Miss Rodeo Lakeside 2011
Elisa Swenson

Howdy Rodeo Fans, and welcome to the 47th annual Lakeside Rodeo. My  Name is Elisa Swenson, and I am honored to represent both the El Capitan  Stadium Association, and the Lakeside Rodeo. After hours of studying and hard  work I was privileged to have been crowned as Miss Rodeo Lakeside 2011.  This was quite the challenge because this year we had 4 talented and driven  young ladies competing for the crown, which was passed down by the dazzling  Miss Rodeo Lakeside 2010, Kayla Douglas.
I am 23 years old, a resident of Santee, and I am currently attending Grossmont  College. It was my mother’s words of wisdom that ultimately helped me with my  career choice, “Do something that makes you happy and something that makes  a difference”. So with that I decided to become a nurse, the thought of one

day saving peoples lives is simply inspiring to me.
I began riding at the age of 11 after attending my very first rodeo.
Throughout my  life, horses have taught me many life lessons as well as been my aid in time of  difficulty and most importantly they have been my life long friends. One of those  many lessons was about accepting life’s challenges. I believe that when you want  something bad enough there is nothing out there that can keep you from  achieving it, you just can’t give up. That’s what cowboys and cowgirls do in  rodeo, they always keep trying. Their love for the sport of rodeo is unbreakable  and it is truly amazing to watch them buckle down and complete as they chase  and dally their dreams.
As your rodeo ambassador, I look forward to traveling throughout San Diego  county and California representing the sport of rodeo for Lakeside and their  town’s philanthropists, the El Capitan Stadium Association (ECSA). I cannot  thank them enough for their many years of hard work,
dedication and charitable  contributions they have made for the community. I am beyond proud to be apart  of such a wonderful organization.
For those who don’t know, the ECSA is a group of volunteers who donate their  time and energy to the youth of Lakeside. The annual Lakeside Rodeo is one of  the ECSA’s largest fundraisers, allowing them to donate over $120,000 annually  to many Lakeside youth groups such as, Lakeside Schools, Youth Sports, and 4-  H just to name a few. By attending the rodeo you are contributing to the success  of the ECSA and the youth of Lakeside. So thank you for coming to the Lakeside  rodeo!
