Latest Updates on Bidder and Auction Process

April 11, 2020
BIDDER REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!

As a prospective buyer, it is important that you register and obtain a buyer number to use when bidding before May 16th.

Go to www.esdcjf.org and follow the instructions and links that will take you to liveauctions.tv.

Where do I Get an Auction Book?

Each prospective buyer will be able to download an auction
book at www.esdcjf.org listing the animals in the order of sale, exhibitor name and club/chapter from the fair website on Friday, May 15th.

Do I Bid per Pound or by Head?

As each animal goes up for sale on liveauctions.tv, the auctioneer will ask for bids in dollars per head.

How do I Place My Bids?

Bidders will use the auction website to bid on the animal.
The bidding will continue until there are no more bids.

What if I am the High Bidder?

If you are the high bidder, you will receive a text message so that you can let the auction company know the destination and disposition of your purchase.

After the sale of the animal is completed

Choose one of the following options:
  1. You may pick up your animal from the exhibitor yourself as a Live Animal self-haul.
  2. You may sell it to the packer at packer price which will be announced at the beginning of the sale.
  3. You may send the animal for processing. All animals will be sent by the fair to the State Plant for processing.
  4. The fee for processing will be collected by the fair when you pay for your animal.
  5. The State Plant will transport your purchase to the processor of your choice.
  6. Choices for processing are:
    • Specialty Meats
    • Scotts Custom Meats
    • Cliffs Meats
    • Hottinger Family Meats

How do I Know How Much the Processing Fee is per Processor?

The Processors will charge you a fee, listed in the auction book, per pound for the cut and wrap of your animal.

What if I want to Donate my Purchase For Resale?

Finally, you may donate the animal you bid and won to the fair for resale. When this is done, you pay the total price of the animal and it is resold at the END of the auction.

The proceeds of this sale may go to one of the following funds as designated by you:

INVESTMENT FOR YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The Eastern San Diego County Junior Fair has a fund which provides monies for graduating FFA and 4-H seniors to be used for self-improvement, college, trade schools, etc.

EAST COUNTY AG BOOSTERS FUND

The East County Ag Boosters raises and uses money to help support 4-H and FFA Exhibitors from East County at the San Diego County Fair Junior Livestock Auction.
